A computational framework for coating fatigue analysis of wind turbine blades due to rain erosion

The rain-induced fatigue damage in the wind turbine blade coating has attracted increasing attention owing to significant repair and maintenance costs. present paper develops an improved computational framework for analyzing induced by rain erosion. first presents extended stochastic field simulation model that considers different raindrop shapes (spherical, flat, spindle), sizes, impact angles, speeds. influence of these characteristics on stress is investigated a smoothed particle hydrodynamics approach. To address expensive time, interpolation method proposed calculate all raindrops random event. Furthermore, analysis performed including crack initiation incubation period propagation mass-loss-rate due impact. Finally, verified comparing estimated life with those obtained literature. results from study show incorporating statistics rainfall data, could be used expected
